Randee and Larry Estes have been a team for 35 years. We started eating at Max’s Italian Beef on Western Avenue when we first started dating in 1976. After we were married, Max’s became our weekly hang out. One day, while Larry was enjoying his spaghetti and sausage and Randee her beef with red sauce and fries, Larry’s Uncle Max told us "I want to sell the business and move to Florida." But he wanted the name, the menu, and the quality to stay the same.
Randee and Larry took over in January of 1979 and the rest, as they say, is history. Customers have always asked for beef by the pound to take home. But when appetizers and side dishes began being requested as well, Catering by Max’s was born. Larry managed sales in the front of the restaurant while Randee created delicious delights in the back of the house.
We are now a full service catering company that can create everything from hot dogs and fries, to beef tenderloin and chicken roulades, and everything in between! Whether it’s picnics, full service buffets, plated dinners, boat cruises, or corporate drop offs, Catering by Max’s does it all. We pride ourselves on giving you the ability to be a guest at your own event.
We are hands-on in the sales office, in the kitchen, and at your event. Give us a call today and let us plan an event that you will never forget.
Enjoy!

Gerardo has worked in catering for five years while also serving as the evening manager at Max’s Italian Beef. Catering by Max’s would not be as efficient as it is without his outstanding equipment management and his pleasant manner.

Eva has worked in catering for over ten years while also serving as the restaurant manager at Max’s Italian Beef. She is one of our beloved keystones: she plans buffet designs, cooks, coordinates, and helps serve too. She’s seen it all but always keeps her radiant smile!

As a graduate of the University of Chicago, Jerry brings many outstanding talents to our company. Whether designing the new website to photographing a venue, she is fondly referred to as our office girl extraordinaire. We are saddened that she is moving out of Illinois, but gratefully she will still be available for consulting.

It is our great pleasure to give back to our local and state community many times throughout the year. There are too many to list in our thirty years of history, but here’s a few of our proudest accomplishments. During the spring and fall we provide fresh complimentary lunches to the volunteers of Special Olympics Chicago during their competitive games. Over the summer we donate food to the Rogers Park Annual Basketball Camp for grade school children, held at Loyola University Gentile Center. And in the holiday rush, we find time to host a traditional Thanksgiving dinner free of charge for three hundred children and adults from Misericordia, the Silent Co-op, the Juvenile Justice and Child Protection Department of Cook County, and other local organizations. Please visit our photo gallery to view pictures from these events.
